MARCH 18th TO MARCH 24th 2018

Meals on Wheels is a volunteer-driven program that provides hot nutritious meals to home-bound or isolated seniors and to those with reduced autonomy. The Meals on Wheels program in the West Island began in a church kitchen in Lachine in 1969. Now, more than 800 volunteer shoppers, cooks, and drivers work in 12 Meals on Wheels kitchens throughout the West Island. Volunteers come from all walks of life and include retired workers, business professionals, homemakers, teachers, entrepreneurs, and many others. Their combined efforts allow over 400 people, who have been referred through hospitals, CLSCs and rehabilitation centers, to receive hot lunches at minimal cost. These fresh, home-cooked meals include a balanced main dish and a dessert prepared by volunteers, and delivered directly to the door by volunteers. For more information please call (514) 457-5445

URGENT call for volunteers
(temporary or permanent)

The need is now. Volunteers needed immediately to keep the Pierrefonds-Roxboro Meals on Wheels Kitchen open to provide clients with this essential service; many rely on it in order to remain in their own homes.
We need help once a month for three hours Tuesday or Thursday during March to the end of June until new permanent teams of volunteers can be formed.
Individuals and rotating teams welcome. If you can only give a day or two that would be appreciated as well. No experience necessary.

  • Delivery teams – deliver hot meals to clients’ homes in Pierrefonds/DDO area once a month between 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM. This is particularly urgent.
  • Teams of cooks – prepare meals at MOW Kitchen in St. Barnabas Church from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
  • Clean-up crews – wash dishes and tidy kitchen from 10:30 AM to noon

Please contact (514) 457-5445 for information or to volunteer.
