The 19th edition of the Hommage bénévolat-Quebec Awards

Quebec, October 20, 2015 – Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity and Minister responsible for the Capitale-Nationale region, Mr. Sam Hamad, has announced the start of the nomination period the 19th edition of the Prix Hommage bénévolat-Quebec. The Quebec government has awarded these prizes since 1998 to recognize the exceptional commitment of volunteers and organizations from all regions.

“Solidarity is a core value for our company and volunteerism is undoubtedly the most beautiful expression of it. For the government, it is therefore important to recognize and encourage those who are sharing so much energy and the organizations that support them. Altruistic volunteers give their time to improve the well-being of people in their community, and their contribution is irreplaceable. I invite the public to say thank you to the volunteers and organizations that stand out by presenting their candidacy for Hommage bénévolat-Québec Awards,” said Mr. Hamad.

The nomination period runs until December 5, 2015, International Volunteer Day decreed by the UN. A selection committee will choose the winners in all regions of Quebec and the awards will be presented by the Minister at a ceremony to be held next spring.

Three categories to honor volunteers

As part of Hommage bénévolatQuébec, prizes will be donated to forty volunteers and organizations in three categories: Young Volunteer – Claude-Masson Award, which underlines the voluntary involvement of people aged 14-35 years; Volunteer, which honors people 36 years or over, and Organization, which recognizes the work of non-profit organizations that support volunteering within their community. In addition, a special prize will be awarded to a young volunteer young for his contribution in the field of communication.

The regions at the heart of volunteering

Key employees involved with Hommage bénévolat-Quebec, the Volunteer Network of Quebec, the Federation of volunteer centers in Quebec, as well as the regional spokespeople who mobilize to promote the prizes and volunteer work in all regions of Quebec. Thus, the achievements of those who dedicate themselves to the development of their community will shine!
